IPG Photonics introduces the LightWeld XR handheld laser welding and cleaning system, which is versatile enough to handle more materials and thicknesses than previous models in the series.
The new version produces a much smaller spot size to provide more than six times the energy density.According to the company, this change allows weld penetration of thicker materials while minimizing HAZ and reducing distortion or distortion of the surrounding surface area.It can handle steel and aluminum up to 0.250 inches, titanium and nickel alloys up to 0.200 inches, and copper up to 0.080 inches.
Pre-cleaning removes grease, oil, rust and excessive oxide coatings from materials.Post-weld cleaning removes soot, welding-related debris and discoloration without abrasives or grinding.
